These Microgreen Grow Mats are made from 100% natural, 100% compostable Jute fibers, which are very similar to coir cocomats. These mats are most commonly used to grow microgreens and microherbs with, but can also be used to germinate various other types of seeds, should you want to move these newly germinated seeds into the substrate your choosing once they have cracked open inside of the mats. (The Jute mat will replace the commonly used paper-towels or cotton wool pads)

The mats measure approximately 50cm x 24cm and are about 3 – 4mm thick.

These Microgreen Grow Mats fit perfectly into our 30mm Microgreen Trays With Holes and 30mm Microgreen Tray Without Holes, as can be seen in the photo below…..

The mats are a very popular choice for growing microgreens at home, as it is a soft and airy medium with great moisture retention. Because the microgreen growing cycle is so short, with the seedling relying mostly on nutrients stored inside the seed itself, all you really need to do is place your prepared microgreen trays in a suitable location and keep the Microgreen Grow Mats slightly moist at all times.

Once your seeds have sprouted and grown to a harvestable size, you are able to clip off the delicious micro-leaves for your dishes and salads with a pair of pruning scissors.

Microgreen Grow Mat

The Microgreen Tray Without Holes is 275mm wide and 535mm long.

With its low 30mm height, it is ideal to be used as a bottom watering tray when used in conjunction with the Microgreen tray with holes. Alternatively it can be filled to the brim using only about 4.5 liters of growing medium.

Coco coir based substrates/growing mediums are a very popular choice for growing microgreens at home, as it is a soft and airy medium with great moisture retention. Because the microgreen growing cycle is so short, with the seedling relying mostly on nutrients stored inside the seed itself, adding any supplements or additional nutrients to your substrate is not a necessity at all, although a lot of people do add a little bit of worm castings to their mixes, claiming better results.

Once you have added your substrate into the 30mm Microgreen Tray With Holes, water or mist spray lightly if the substrate is on the dry side and tamp the substrate down very lightly by hand, to get it to settle and flatten out nicely. Then gently sprinkle your seeds across the surface. Once this is done, a VERY thin layer of additional substrate may be sprinkled over the top of the seeds (using a baking sieve, for example)

Place the trays into a suitable environment for germination and mist or spray the top of the substrate regularly to prevent it from drying out.  Do not overspray, as this will cause overly wet “swampy” subsurface conditions! Just keep the substrate slightly moist at all times.

Great when used in conjunction with the Microgreen Tray – With Holes and the Natural Jute Mat.

Once your seeds have sprouted and grown to a harvestable size, you are able to clip off the delicious micro-leaves for your dishes and salads with a pair of pruning scissors.

The Microgreen Tray can also be used as a drip tray for potted plants, which will catch runoff during watering or flushing.

The Microgreen Tray With Holes (drainage slots, to be precise) and is 275mm wide and 535mm long. The drainage provided will help prevent overly wet substrates and potential rot.

ROCKWOOL 77 PLUG TRAY

Rockwool can hold large quantities of water and air that aid root growth and nutrient uptake in hydroponics; the fibrous nature also provides a good mechanical structure to hold the plant stable. It is used primarily for drip hydroponic systems.

Rockwool is made by melting a combination of rock and sand and then spinning the mixture to make fibers which are formed into different shapes and sizes.

ROOTIT PROPAGAGTION/CLONING DOME – SMALL

The Rootit Small Propagation/Cloning Dome (12 cm high from base to top of dome) is great for rooting cuttings as well as for seed germination and young seedlings.

The base (including lip edges) measures 32 cm x 21 cm, providing ample room for propagation. The ridged base raises seed trays and rockwool cubes from the bottom of the tray, allowing for drainage of excess water.

The clear dome lid is also made of a very acceptable plastic thickness and features a ventilation port on the top of the dome.

Set up your ROOTiT Small Propagator in conjunction with heat mats, temperature controllers, lighting, etc., to create the perfect conditions for your seeds and cuttings to thrive in!

ROOTIT PROPAGATION TRAY INSERT

Rootit Propagation Tray Inserts are suitable for plant propagation, seed germination, plant cuttings, etc. In conjunction with the Large Rootit Propagation/Cloning Dome.

The trays have round cells (42mm diameter) that will hold most pre-formed propagation media, e.g. Jiffy Pellets or Rock Wool plugs. Alternatively, use your favourite seedling mix such as the Freedom Farms Seedstarter in the trays.
